Manie Skidmore

General Obedience Trainer

Hi my name is Manie.

I have lived and worked with dogs all my life. I have my own dogs, my retired Police Dog Gunner and a charismatic miniature  Schnauzer called Alfie.  There has never been a time in my life when I’ve been without a dog by my side.  From the tender age of 10 I enjoyed helping with training my Dad’s gundogs.

In 1982 I joined the Royal Air Force and trained as a Military Dog Handler working in both training and operational theatres.  During this time I had the honour of running two RAF Police Dog Sections and attained a Kennel Management, Dog First Aid and Military Instructors Qualification.

In 1993, upon leaving the RAF I joined South Yorkshire Police and in 1998 became A Police Dog Handler.  For 18 years I have enjoyed working and training 4 German Shepherd Dogs as general purpose Police Dogs and 2 Drugs, Firearms and Cash Search Dogs.  I finally retired from SYP in June 2016.

I have known Neil Losada for over 10 years both as a friend and fellow Dog Handler and when he asked me to join BBK9 in 2016 I jumped at the chance to continue my love affair with this amazing animal.  You will currently find me training Puppy and Rookie classes .
